The water and housing product manufacturer Lixil Corporation opened its first cistern assembly facility in the Asia-Pacific region in Mumbai. This is Lixil’s second cistern assembly facility outside of Japan. The first is in Poland.

The Mumbai plant, which covers 23,500 square feet, will act as the primary production hub for the Indian market. With this, Lixil will not only provide numerous ground-breaking inventions to the nation but also reaffirm its dedication to the “Make in India” program of the Indian government. Thanks to this facility, three best-selling Grohe flushing cisterns will be easier to locate.

The factory is planned to increase yearly production up to 3,00,000 units in the second year of operation from its initial 1,50,000 unit production capability. The location of this factory will play a vital role in logistics optimization while ensuring uninterrupted service because it is close to Lixil’s Mumbai distribution center.

Bobby Joseph, leader of Lixil Water Technologies-India and Subcontinent, and Jorg Vogeley, leader of Plant Porta Westfalica, manufacturing fittings, represented Lixil International at the opening ceremony.

Bringing APAC’s first cistern assembly factory to the nation is a testament to our firm commitment to the thriving Indian market and the “Make in India” strategy, according to Bijoy Mohan. This facility will set the standard for providing the latest technologies and top-notch manufacturing techniques while ensuring a larger presence in the category globally.

With this new facility, we hope to make India a major export hub for APAC’s developing nations.

“This new assembly plant is a further step towards increasing Lixil’s footprint in emerging countries and establishing capabilities to offer quality goods to our end users,” said Jens Harder, leader of manufacturing fittings at Lixil International. We are certain that Lixil International’s numerous initiatives, including the cistern assembly plant for our Grohe brand, would enable us to dominate the Indian cistern market.

We have a distinct vision and strategy for the Indian market, and we’ll keep executing those, according to Bobby Joseph. In India, the flushing systems market is expanding quickly. We expect the market to grow significantly, and with this investment, we want to lead the category.
