Kohler India Celebrated Its 11th Year of Pecha Kucha Event

Kohler India celebrated its 11-year anniversary season in the pecha kucha event on 10 march 2023. Of march in Hyderabad and was attended by the most prominent names in the A&D community.

The event, which was titled “Embracing equity focused on gender equality’s importance within the interior and architectural design industry. This event was attended by six notable speakers from cities across the world, including Kohler’s very own Laura Kohler as well as Vasundhara sampath from Phylosophy design, asha kushalappa from DWP, Vaishali Sharma from FD design, Shami goregaoker from GA design and Rupanna reddy from NA architects. The discussions that took place during the event included a variety of topics which resonate with women working in the design and architecture community. The subjects discussed included the necessity of an inclusive approach to design, the past and future of women’s roles in architecture, as well as strategies to ensure an equitable future in the workplace. The panellists shared their experiences and perspectives on implementing equality-based initiatives at work and removing prejudices and judgements.

Ms laura e. Kohler, the chief sustainability officer and dei director of Kohler stated “embracing equity is not a poster, not a tagline, not a marketing gimmick. It is real work – leveraging the oz principle, we make the change when we see it. Own it. Solve it. Do it. At Kohler, we are also dedicated to designing for equity in our products, spaces, and experiences.

As part of our human factors lab, we are deepening our understanding of how physical and sensory limitations affect daily tasks such as showering, handwashing, driving and exercising.”

The speakers discussed architectural design by focusing not only on aesthetics or sustainability but also on equity for all and equity, encouraging the audience to create communities that are more equitable and inclusive.

It was a huge event, and attendees left with a renewed sense of purpose and determination to work toward a more equitable and sustainable future. Kohler intends to keep its efforts to promote inclusion in the business and anticipates future initiatives and events that aim towards advancing these values.

Kohler India started its first pecha kucha in the year 2013, as a way to give a platform to some of the most renowned architects to share their ideas and experiences about diverse design-related topics like wanderlust – inspirational creativity influenced by travel, eves- even to uneven, etc.

Each year the event is held in the major cities of India to bring designers and architects together in a community while engaging in stimulating discussions. The concept was modelled by pecha kucha, a Japanese pecha kucha format of the presentation of 20 slides for 20 seconds.
