Samuel Ross, a British designer and artist, has announced a new creative partnership with Kohler. The 150th-anniversary celebration of Kohler will be the beginning of the relationship. It will debut at Design Miami in 2023. Additional presentations and experiences will be made by 2024. The Wisconsin-based bathroom specialist has always collaborated with artists and designers to create limited editions of its products. Daniel Arsham was the company’s latest project, a 3D-printed ceramic basin.

David Kohler, the chairman and CEO at Kohler Co., believes that common objects can be artefacts and promote pleasant interactions. This idea is fundamental to the innovation and design of their products and experiences. Their creative collaboration with SR_A will make it even more important. Kohler says the partnership will embrace the distinctive characteristics of Samuel Ross’s artistic style, which is often avant-garded and provocative.

Ross was a former student at Virgil Abloh’s school. He founded A-Cold-Wall* streetwear company in 2015 and won the Hublot Award for Design in 2019. Ross, a former student of the late Virgil Abloh, founded the streetwear company A-Cold-Wall* in 2015 and won the Hublot Design Award in 2019.

This partnership honours Kohler’s 150-year history of pioneering innovation, bold moves, and masterful craftsmanship. Kohler believes the future will bring a new kind of domestic self-expression. Ross says that the foundation of the relationship will be a new language for water solutions. Radical engineering is a way to express optimism and challenge societal norms about everyday objects. We are open to exploring and asking questions to discover the next step. Water is a medium that can be used to make design accessible to everyone.
